Worshipping Through Work

“Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people." - Ephesians 6:7

In the hustle of our daily lives, it is easy to overlook the significance of our work. We often view our work as something that we do to make money or something we do to find our own personal fulfillment. Many of us have selfish reasons to work. However, cultivating a heart of worship towards God through our work can transform our perspective and give our work with profound meaning and purpose. We can experience a deeper connection with God through our work through this. Here’s how we can use our work to worship God:

Worship extends far beyond our time on Sunday in church. It encompasses every aspect of our lives, including our work. Worshipping through our work means offering our skills, talents, and efforts as acts of worship. After all: our skills and talents were uniquely given to us by our Creator. This is done through surrendering our desires for personal gain and seeking to glorify God through the quality and integrity of our work. After all, we are called to honor Him in all we do.

A heart of worship prompts us to express adoration and gratitude to God for His goodness and blessings in our work. When we recognize that our talents, opportunities, and successes come from Him, our perspective on work changes. Our work can then be seen as a gift rather than a burden. It becomes a way through which we can honor God and reflect His character to others. Expressing thankfulness for the blessings we receive and acknowledging God's role in our work helps us cultivate a spirit of humility and appreciation.

Embracing worship as a lifestyle inspires us to then pursue excellence in our work. As we strive for excellence, we demonstrate our commitment to honoring God in all that we do to others. This involves giving our best efforts and seeking to make a positive impact through our work. This is because our work is a platform to show God's creativity and wisdom. It’s through our work that we bring glory to His name. Pursuing excellence not only benefits those we serve but also deepens our connection with God as we align our work with His values.

Having a  heart of worship through our work is a journey that gives our work profound meaning and purpose. Surrendering ourselves to God, expressing adoration and gratitude, and pursuing excellence become acts of worship that bring us closer to our Creator. Embracing this perspective on work can set us on a path towards a fulfilling and purpose-driven life, one that not only benefits ourselves but also allows us to honor and serve God through our unique gifts and talents.
