Vision Helps You Take Action

Why Having A Blueprint Can Help You Actually Build

“Part of being optimistic is keeping one’s head pointed toward the sun, one’s feet moving forward. There are many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely tested, but I would not and could not give myself up to despair. That way lays defeat and death.” - Nelson Mandela

Having a vision helps you take action. Many of us are guilty of “paralysis by analysis”. We want to go and do many great things, yet when we see the bigger picture of what it is that we want to accomplish, we make countless plans of what we want to accomplish rather than actually taking action. This is why having a blueprint for what you want to build becomes so important!

When you take a larger vision (your dream) and break it down into smaller steps that need to be built (smaller goals) you are able to take action because it appears much more attainable for you! Much like building a house, there are many steps that go into building. If all the builder of house were to do was think of the amazing ways that the house could look, nothing would get built. It doesn’t matter how magnificent he think a grand staircase would look or how having a beautiful island in the kitchen would be. If he never took any action, there would be no beautiful house. Once he has a blueprint of specifically what he wants it to look like, it’s time to go to work.

Having a blueprint can help you go to work. But you need to define everything. What’s the bigger dream that I want to accomplish? Why am I building? What are some realistic steps that I need to take to get to where I want to get to? But don’t let dreaming stop you from doing. Cast a beautiful vision absolutely! But do not let the dream of building stop you from actually building.

Take action!

Reflection Question: What’s your larger vision? What steps will need to be taken to reach that? What steps within those steps do you need to do?

Now you’ve built a blueprint. Time to go to work!
