You Will Never Reach Perfection, And That’s Okay

“Perfection is the enemy of progress.” - Winston Churchill
One of the easiest traps you can get yourself into is trying to tell yourself that everything has to be perfect. Progress is better than perfection. Perfection leads to inaction! So many of us struggle with paralysis by analysis. We’re scared to take action because we’re afraid that we’re going to make a mistake. Here’s the truth: you are going to make a mistake. You’re going to fail regardless of if you try to make it perfect or not.
If you reframe your mindset and look at it as “I’m gonna fail anyways, so I might as well give my best effort” you’re gonna take way more action than you would otherwise. It’s about progress! You will never reach perfection. That is not attainable. If you recognize that you are going to fail the first time you do something new, that drastically changes how we view our first attempt. Cause that’s all it is- a first attempt. If you truly want to be great at anything, you have to be willing to be okay with being mediocre. That’s how you improve! That’s how you get better at anything!
It’s through that failing and through that progress that you can reach that level that you want to reach. But perfection and trying to be perfect at everything is only going to prolong the build. If anything it’s going to get you looking up at something that you can’t achieve and leave you with a feeling of dissatisfaction and un-fulfillment. Stop chasing perfection! Start chasing progress! Be willing to fail.
Progress > Perfection.
