Plan for 10, Execute for 1

The Importance of Being Patient in the Macro, But Ferocious in the Micro

Want to accomplish anything? Plan for 10, execute for 1.

Make a plan for where you want to be in 10 years, but figure out what you need to execute on for 1 day.

Go fast in the micro, but be patient in the macro.

Here’s 3 questions to ask:

  1. Where do you want to go?

Don’t get too caught up in the vision work. It’s where many people stay.

It’s easier to daydream about what you want to do and where you want to go than it is to put in the work.

Yes, do the planning. But don’t let it distract you from the work.

  1. What do you need to do today?

If you ever want to actually accomplish your vision, you need to break it down into actionable tasks.

These might need even be things that appear to move the needle on the surface.

Start your day with the question: “What are the 3 things that I must do today to get one step closer to accomplishing my vision?”

Maintain discipline consistently to see results.

  1. How do you have to adapt?

The adapting is where the fun happens.

Maybe what you’re doing every day is not actually moving the needle. Maybe it’s the wrong thing.

It requires flexibility and a willingness to admit that you’re wrong and that you’re not doing what your plan requires.

Embrace learning. Embrace growth.

That’s what the journey is about.

I pray that your day is full of reminders of God’s love and faithfulness. May you faithfully build your life on Christ.

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in my weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
