Leading with Vision: How Having a Blueprint Helps the Build

5 Key Elements to Having a Good Vision

Having a vision is crucial for leaders who want to steer their team in the right direction. Just like a blueprint outlines the design and structure of a house, your visions outlines the direction and goals of your team. Without a blueprint, a builder wouldn’t know where to start. Similarly, without a vision, a leader will struggle to keep their team motivated and make decisions that align with their values and goals. A good blueprint is detailed and puts forth the possibility of building a masterpiece before your team. With a strong vision in place, you can guide your team, just like an architect can guide their builders, towards building a beautiful structure.

A blueprint needs to have 5 key elements:

1) A Clear Design: Just like a blueprint needs a clear design, a vision needs to be specific and well-defined. This helps leaders guide their team and make informed decisions.

2) Feasibility: A blueprint needs to be realistic and feasible in order to be executed properly and so that motivation remains throughout the build.

3) Inspiration: A blueprint can capture the imagination of a builder, and a vision can inspire a leader’s team. A good vision should be inspiring and get the team excited to work towards a common goal.

4) Durability: A blueprint should be designed for long-term success, and a vision should be sustainable and long-lasting. Leaders need to think about the future and make sure their vision can withstand the test of time.

5) Adapatability: A blueprint should be flexible and adaptable, and th same is true for a vision. Leaders need to be able to adjust their vision as circumstances change, while still maintaining its core elements.

A good vision provides the foundation of any leader’s success and helps them guide their team toward a common goal.

What is your vision?
