The Only Lasting Hope in Our World
How Christians Can Foster Resilience in Difficult Times

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our LORD Jesus Christ." - 1 Corinthians 15:57
Our world needs something to hold onto.
The relentless waves of change, conflict, and crisis make the storms of life seem hopeless to many.
In our journey through life, at some point we encounter various trials and adversities. However, as followers of Christ, we are not left without a beacon of hope in the midst of life's fiercest storms. We have an anchor in those storms! Our faith in the powerful victory of Christ fosters a spirit of resilience that can withstand any storm!
The biggest thing that we need to set our eyes and hearts on is the reassuring truth of Christ's victory over the storms. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:57, "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our LORD Jesus Christ." He gives us victory- victory over the condemnation for sin that the law brings and victory over death and the grave through Christ's resurrection.
If Christ is the victor over death itself, is He not also able to give us the victory over the current storms of our life? No matter the size of the storm, we can face them with confidence, knowing that Christ has already won the victory on our behalf.
Resilience, then, springs from our trust in God's sovereignty. Resilience comes when, despite the storms we encounter, we stand firm in the belief that God is in control always. We can stand firm, then, in the belief that we are "more than conquerers" through Christ (Romans 8:37). This isn't a promise that we will be free from hardships because we are followers of Christ. Rather, it's a bold declaration that we can rise above the storms. We can rise above the trials and circumstances.
NOT because of our strength... but through the power of Christ who loves us and give Himself for us.
This trust that God is always in control instills in us a resilience that can weather any storm. Our hope serves as an anchor. It's not a failing hope like what so many in the world today put their hope in. It's a secure one that anchors itself on the very presence of God. This hope in Christ's victory is not wishful thinking. It's a confident assurance that is grounded in the triumph of Christ.
Because of Christ's victory over sin, death, and the devil, we are confident in the hope that we have. And this hope leads to trust. And that trust leads to resilience.
And it is through our story of resilience that others can share in our lasting hope.
To God be the glory!
