How to Develop Your Blueprint in Alignment with God's Word (Part 2)

Seeking God's Righteousness

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

- Matthew 6:33

In our journey of developing our life’s blueprint, we often desire to build our lives around personal wants and worldly ambitions. This tendency to center our lives around ourselves can lead to a life that seems off course.

The question we must ask ourselves: “Am I following the right blueprint?”

We read yesterday in Matthew 6:33, Jesus teaching His disciples saying, "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." What we desire to build should revolve around seeking God's kingdom and righteousness. It means that when we’re developing our life’s blueprint, we are to build it in alignment with the things that God loves.

Yesterday, we broke down seeking God’s kingdom when building our blueprint. Today, we’re going to take a look at how seeking God’s righteousness helps us build a life on Christ by following His example.

Seeking God's righteousness is about the need to strive for a life that echoes Christ's life here on earth. Seeking God's righteousness is the very foundation upon which our faith is built. It is an honorable calling to live a life that not only echoes but lives out Christ's teachings on love, forgiveness, humility, and selflessness. We need more builders for the kingdom that seek God’s righteousness.

A blueprint that truly aligns with this call to seeking His righteousness transforms the way we view our goals and shapes our actions in every aspect of our lives. Our life then becomes less about achieving personal accomplishments and more about building God’s kingdom.

So then what does it mean to seek God’s righteousness? To understand this, we first need to appreciate the meaning of righteousness from God’s perspective. Righteousness means being in right standing with God. It means living in accordance with God's moral standards. It’s about reflecting His purity and holiness in our actions, words, and thoughts. It involves emulating the example of Christ. The best way that we can live this out is by displaying the fruits of the Spirit.

The Apostle Paul writes in Galatians 5:22-23 about these fruits of the Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These fruits should not just be mere attributes but should become the very fabric of who we are as God’s people.

They should play out in how we interact with others.

They should guide our decision-making processes.

They should influence the goals and visions we set for ourselves.

These very fruits should be evident when you are developing a vision for your life.

Love, as a fruit, isn’t just a feeling. It shows itself in action. It is kind, generous, and selfless. The ultimate example of love we have is when Christ showed His sacrificial and unconditional love on Calvary. Joy becomes a constant state of who we are, regardless of circumstances, as we find our true happiness in our relationship with God. Peace helps us remain calm during storms, knowing that God is in control. Patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness guide our relationships and interactions. Gentleness keeps our ego in check by keeping us humble and graceful. Self-control helps us resist temptation and live a disciplined life in pursuit of the things that God loves.

When we are developing our life’s blueprint, seeking God's righteousness means crafting a vision that displays these spiritual fruits. It's not just about advancing in our careers, but about doing so with integrity and kindness. It's not just about building relationships, but about nurturing them with love, patience, and forgiveness. Every building block that we lay when we’re building, then, becomes that much more meaningful and significant. Building becomes about being Christ-like in our thoughts and behaviors.

The pursuit of God's righteousness invites a shift in our perspective from a self-centered viewpoint to a Christ-centered one. It encourages us to view our lives not as an isolated build but as a larger part of God’s grand blueprint. It encourages us to seek a deeper purpose in everything we do. We shift our thoughts from 'What is good for me?' to 'What is good in the eyes of God?'.

By doing so, our blueprint becomes an example of our faith, a testament of our love for God, and a reflection of our commitment to walk like Christ. This pursuit of righteousness then becomes not just a personal endeavor but a journey for all of us as believers as we each strive to build a life that truly reflects God's glory.

And we won’t be perfect at it - far from it. But that’s why Jesus needed to come.

And even though we aren’t perfect at it, we still should desire to build a life that is based around seeking God’s kingdom and His righteousness. This happens through the work of the Holy Spirit.

To God be the glory in our build!

💭 QUOTE OF THE DAY

This avoidance of the difficult things of Scripture — of sinfulness and hell and God’s notable severity — is idolatrous and cowardly. If a man or a woman who teaches the Scriptures is afraid to explain to you the severity of God, they have betrayed you, and they love their ego more than they love you.”

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in my weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
