How to Develop Your Blueprint in Alignment with God's Word (Part 1)

Seeking God's Kingdom

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

- Matthew 6:33

Imagine you are a master builder, laying out the blueprint for a masterpiece. As you plan each detail, you carefully consider how every part contributes to the end. Our life operates under a similar premise. We all need a blueprint - a vision in which our life is built around.

In our journey of developing this blueprint, we often desire to build our lives around personal wants and worldly ambitions. This tendency to center our lives around ourselves can lead to a life that seems off course.

The question we must ask ourselves: “Am I following the right blueprint?”

In Matthew 6:33, Jesus teaches us, "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." What we desire to build should revolve around seeking God's kingdom and righteousness. It means that when we’re developing our life’s blueprint, we are to build it in alignment with the things that God loves.

But how do we ensure our blueprint aligns with God’s will and not our own selfish ambitions, which often lead to building a kingdom that crumbles and falls?

Over the next 2 days, I’m going to break both of these down: seeking God’s kingdom and seeking God’s righteousness.

Today, let’s take a look at the importance of seeking God’s kingdom when developing our blueprint.

Seeking God's kingdom implies a vision that places God at its center. As Christians we know the importance of this. Many of us have been told this since we were little kids.

“Keep God First.”

A vision that prioritizes service to God and His people is crucial to making disciples and building His kingdom. When you’re developing a blueprint, it has to happen. You can’t develop a blueprint to build your own kingdom.

What we know about building for our own selfish ambitions is that when we prioritize serving ourselves instead of serving God and our neighbor, our kingdom always crumbles and falls. We must build with the right intentions through serving God and His people.

Now, prioritizing service to God and His people comes in a few ways, depending on your gifts, talents, or circumstances.

Each one of us, as followers of Christ, have been given unique gifts and talents designed to fill a unique role in building for God's kingdom. These gifts and talents aren't for our own benefit, but are given with a divine intention for us to utilize them in serving God and His people.

The Apostle Paul writes about this idea in 1 Corinthians 12:4-7: "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone, it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good."

Although we have different gifts and talents, we share a common goal in service of the Lord. We are all builders of God’s Kingdom.

A house being built needs architects, plumbers, electricians, masons, and roofers.

It needs engineers, HVAC technicians, interior designers, landscapers, and carpenters.

So many talented gifts and abilities are all being used to create a beautiful masterpiece. God’s people are the most diverse group of workers with different gifts and abilities.

These gifts all come from the Holy Spirit, and we must utilize them to build His kingdom. Therefore, in shaping our vision, we must consider not just what we want to do but how our unique skills and talents can contribute to God's work. Understanding this principle will guide us in aligning our vision with God's will.

If you have a gift for communication, you could dedicate your life to spreading God's Word, perhaps as a preacher, writer, or counselor. If you're blessed with resources, you could invest in charities or initiatives that help the less fortunate, in line with Jesus' teachings on compassion and giving. If you're gifted in teaching or mentoring, you could nurture the next generation of believers, helping them grow in their faith.

It's essential to remember that service to God isn't limited to grand gestures or significant roles within ministry. Even small, everyday acts of kindness, compassion, and love can amount to service for God’s glory.

As you map out your vision, pray for guidance to understand your gifts and how you can utilize them to serve God and His people.

In God's kingdom, there's no insignificant role, and every act of service contributes to the building of His kingdom.

Your blueprint should reflect this calling.

💭 QUOTE OF THE DAY

“When you say, ‘Doctrine doesn’t matter; what matters is that you live a good life,’ that IS a doctrine. It is called the doctrine of salvation by your works rather than by grace.”

- Tim Keller

 🧰 COACH’S TOOLBOX

As someone that has been known to check their phone first thing in the morning, this article spoke a lot of truth to me.

How you begin your day matters! And it starts the night before. It requires a plan. I’m working towards figuring out that plan and what works best for me. The morning is the best time to spend time quiet time with God and arm yourself with the Word. No distractions. No busyness. It’s when I like to write. I need to get better at this planning process consistently! Hope you get some value out of it.

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in my weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
