What is Build?

Explaining the Process of Becoming Elite

We define the process of becoming elite as “BUILD”. BUILD has 4 parts: Blueprint, Dig, Lay the Foundation, One Brick at a Time.

A house needs a Blueprint before the build even begins. In a similar way, we want our players to have goals and a vision for what they want to accomplish in their life.

When they have their blueprint on what they want to build, next comes the Dig. The dig has everything to do with getting rid of the bad habits and the “muck” that will get in the way of laying a solid foundation. We want them to develop daily winning habits both on and off the court. We want our players to become self-aware of who they are and what skills they have.

From there, we Lay the Foundation. When laying the foundation, you want it to not easily be shaken or susceptible to cracks. When laying a foundation, you have to be patient. It can be difficult when results don’t happen in the timing that you want them to. It’s through laying a foundation that our players learn that it’s not about the result as much as it is about developing the habits that it takes for results to come in the first place. Patience is key!

Finally, we encourage our players to lay One Brick at a Time. Consistency is key when it comes to building. Consistency develops discipline. We define discipline as doing what you’re supposed to do the way that it’s supposed to be done all the time regardless of how you feel. Life throws many things at our athletes, and we want to walk with them daily to lay the best brick every day that they can. If they do that each day, eventually they have a built a beautiful masterpiece that they can be proud of. This cannot be done by laying mediocre bricks or by laying one solid brick only when they “feel like it”.
